Last updated:

CIBIL score is a 3-digit number that summarises your credit history. It falls between 300 and 900. The closer you are to 900, the better your CIBIL score. Lenders use it to assess your credit profile for loan approvals.

You can check your CIBIL score for free online using your mobile number and PAN details. Enter the OTP sent to your phone, then provide your PAN and address details. Your score usually appears on screen within two minutes.

How to Check Your CIBIL Score For Free Online by PAN Number?

Checking your CIBIL score for free is easy and takes under two minutes. You can check it on the official CIBIL website or through our portal as an authorised CIBIL partner. To use our portal, follow the four simple steps listed below. They are:

1

Visit our free CIBIL Score page.

2

Enter your mobile number, complete the CAPTCHA and verify the OTP.

3

Provide your PAN and personal details, then your address details and consent.

4

View your CIBIL Score and credit report.

Note: Checking your own score is a soft enquiry and does not lower your CIBIL Score.

Lenders generally consider CIBIL scores over 700 as good. A good CIBIL score does not guarantee credit approval. Lenders review various factors, but approval thresholds and interest rates vary based on the borrower’s overall financial profile and the lender’s internal eligibility criteria.

Can You Check a CIBIL Score by PAN Number Without Logging in?

Every regulated route requires identity verification because the RBI mandates that bureaus authenticate the requester before releasing a report. The authentication process varies by platform; our free check starts with a mobile OTP.

Our free check starts with a mobile OTP and then asks for your PAN and address details. Don’t share your PAN or other personal details with an unfamiliar site just because it promises an instant score. Use a trusted, authorised service and check its identity-verification and consent process.

Why Does a CIBIL Score Check Need A PAN Card?

PAN (Permanent Account Number) is a unique 10-character alphanumeric number issued by India’s Income Tax Department. It identifies a taxpayer and links and tracks financial transactions for tax and financial records.

It contains basic identifying information, such as your name, date of birth/incorporation, and unique PAN number. It does not store your complete financial history; it identifies you and links financial and tax records.

Your PAN is an important identifier used to match your credit accounts to your report. Credit bureaus also use other identifying information lenders provide.

That is why we ask for PAN details during our score-check process. PAN alone does not authorise access to your report; identity verification and consent are also important. We strongly recommend sharing your details only through a trusted, authorised service and official CIBIL partners.

Does Checking Your CIBIL Score by PAN Card Affect Your Score?

Checking your own credit score with your PAN details does not affect it. This is a soft inquiry, and you can make it as often as you like. CIBIL suggests checking at least once a month to monitor your credit health.

When you apply for a loan or card, the lender performs a hard inquiry. This may have a marginal impact on your score, and frequent applications in a short period may also show a temporary dip in your overall credit score.

Each hard enquiry stays on your credit report for 36 months. Under RBI rules, the bureau must send an SMS or email alert when a lender enquiry appears in your report, provided your contact details are available.

What your score means for a loan

Your CIBIL score by PAN card is a three-digit number between 300 and 900. A score above 700 is generally considered good. The bands below are general educational guidance, not Piramal Finance eligibility criteria.

ScoreRatingGeneral interpretation
750 – 900ExcellentMay support approval and competitive interest rates
650 – 749GoodMay support approval; pricing depends on the full application
500 – 649FairSome lenders approve with stricter borrowing terms
300 – 499PoorThis range could lead to rejection of loan applications
NA/NHNo HistoryAsk the lender how it assesses applicants with limited credit history.

Minimum score requirements vary by lender and loan product.

We assess loan applications using the applicant’s overall credit and financial profile, subject to the relevant product criteria.

Note: A score alone does not guarantee approval. We also weigh your income, existing debts, and age along with other criteria in the final decision. The lender has sole discretion over loan approval.

What to Do If Your CIBIL Score Shows NH or -1 After a PAN Check

A No History or NA result from a free online CIBIL score check by PAN number doesn’t necessarily mean you have a bad score. It simply means you don’t have enough credit activity to generate a report or CIBIL score.

A score may be unavailable if you don’t have enough recent credit activity.

Your recommended first step is to build a record. Start with a small credit amount or a low limit and repay it on time. Ask the lender how it assesses applicants with no credit history. This initial activity will eventually lead to a scorable report.

No score yet? You may still be eligible for an instant loan without CIBIL.

How to Report an Error in Your CIBIL Report?

Checking your credit report monthly is a part of consistent credit discipline. It lets you track discrepancies and resolve them through the right channels. Here are some key points to remember.

  • Raise disputes with CIBIL on their official website.
  • For CIBIL’s dispute process, use a report issued within the previous 60 days.
  • The lender and bureau must resolve an eligible credit-information correction complaint within 30 calendar days of its initial filing.
  • If it remains unresolved beyond that period, RBI’s framework provides compensation of ₹100 per calendar day of delay, subject to its conditions.

However, a bureau cannot change your data until the reporting lender confirms the correction at its source.

Once corrected, see how long a CIBIL score update takes.

Start by entering your mobile number to receive an OTP, then add your 10-character alphanumeric PAN and any other mentioned details. This is a soft enquiry, so checking your own score does not affect it.

Under RBI rules, each credit bureau provides one free full credit report per calendar year, including its own score where available. If you took yours on or after 1 January 2026, your next free report is due on 1 January 2027. However, we offer a free monthly credit score check.

The CIBIL score ranges from 300 to 900 and is based on your credit accounts and application history. A score above 700 is generally considered good, while we rate 650 to 749 as good and 750 to 900 as excellent. These educational bands are not loan-approval cutoffs.

If you see “NA” or “No Hit”, it usually means there isn’t enough credit history to generate a score. To build one, start with a small credit limit, repay on time, and track your spending. A lender’s check on a new application may have a marginal impact on your score.
